    Default HDS8 GPS report........

I got the HDS8 mounted on my Jon Boat (if you could imagine). First time to try out the gps was this past weekend at the Big Bear shindig. The gps was dead on as I approched waypoints and it held course at .2 mph. The only problem I had with the gps was a loss of 3d when I got close to a high bank lined with trees and houses and boat docks. I have the internal gps. Don't know how the external antenna would respond. For 200 bucks, I want find out either.

The 2d sonar is excellent. The Lowrance insight maps are fair.

I was able to load previous created waypoint files directly to the HDS8 from the SD card.

I sure like this feature. I can add or delete waypoints, tracks, trails, routes to the unit without a PC.

You got to select the maps in the menu Wilbur. You have a choice between insight and Navionics.

Have you decided on which one you like over the other? HB or Lowrance?

HDS zooms to 20 foot. I don't know a map this is really worth a crap at 20 feet zoom, even with a big screen. ha
