Thread: I think I have saw some post regarding FF interference from trolling

motor but havent been able to locate them, I just moved my HB587ci to the front on the trolling motor and today was the first time I was able to test it in the water. I did notice that I had lines in the display that made it look like sensitivity was way up on the unit and I checked and it wasnt, after some trial and error I found out that if I ran the trolling motor (iPilot) on 1/2 speed there was not lines but if I went to 1 or higher they appeared, so I am to assume that the transducer is picking up interference from the trolling motor since the ducer is mounted on the motor. I know I have read somewhere in here about this and what I might could do to eliminate it but I just haven found it yet, any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

Cane Pole, do you think it might be that since I have the transducer cable running up the coiled cable on the iPilot and then over the the FF unit itself might be where the interference is coming from ?

Not sure. Most cross coupling is caused by parallel placement of wires. Usually, wires intercepting at right angles (i.e. cable thru the coil of wires) do not cause a problem.

Do you have a metal hose clamp securing the transducer? I replaced mine with a large plastic zip tie and most of the interference went away.

Charger, as a matter of fact I do have the metal hose clamp securing the transducer, will check that out, thanks for the tip

Is what I thought too Tom. I can't see how a metal hose clamp could have any effect unless there was a wireless connection to the ducer. The ducer is hardwired and a metal hose clamp should not be causing any interference. Your thoughts?

The only thing that comes to mind Craig is the "close proximity antenna effect". I am not sure, but after all, it is called electronic theory. Theory is a technical term that really means magic. haha
