Tom,
I replied to your PM about loading an older version software and than reloading the current version software. I don’t think it will help but you can certainly do it. You will need an older software upgrade (*.bin file) file to do this which I can send to you.

Where is your transducer mounted and what do you have the Transducer Select menu set to?
You should be seeing a lot more ‘stuff’ on the display or you are fishing in some of the clearest/cleanest water that I have seen. Is there anyway that you could test your 777c2 unit on someone else’s boat that runs a Humminbird? This does not have to be another 777c2 unit as most use the same 200/83kHz sonar (even most of the Si units). Just connect the power and transducer for the test (not the GPS).

Greg,
This week I loaded the old software version onto unit, powered up and switchfire was not on there. So I went out placed on boat powered up for a little bit, came back in and then loaded the newest switchfire version, and it seemed to have loaded correctly.
I went out on local lake today powered up and then switched to using my transom transducer (the one that came with the unit) and NOTHING BUT THE SAME STUFF. same issues I have been having remain despite trying 2 different transducers.Only other thing is the toggle switch that connects the 2 to the unit, but surely the toggle switch wouldnt do it.
I am going to go ahead and by a new transducer for the trolling motor, a dual beam 200/83 instead of using the quad beam sonar as a dual beam, but is there anything I can do to check the unit itself. I am thinking its the unit. can I send it off, anything????????
Please help, im growing frustrated. Im kinda miffed because this thing hasn't been working right the whole time Ive had it..........
I have pics and settings in the other thread "humminbird greg and tommyboyrn"

Tom,
The best way to know for sure where the problem is would be to test your unit on someone else’s boat that has a Humminbird transducer. This can be any of the DualBeam, QuadraBeam or even a Side Imaging unit (but not the 981/987 units).

If you cannot test on someone else’s boat than you should remove the Transducer Switch and plug one of the transducers directly into the unit and test it again to see if you get the same results just to eliminate the switch as a possible source of the problem. If there is a connection issue in the switch it could lead to what looks like reduced sensitivity.

As a last resort you could call the Humminbird Customer Resource folks at 1-800-633-1468 and set it all up to send in your unit and transducers to be tested; but it would be best to try and eliminate what works correctly on your end first if possible.

I took some more pictures with my 778C today. These are dropping a 1/8 oz jig and 1 picture of a 1/2 oz sinker hopping on the bottom. I bumped the sensitivity up to 20 to see the jig. Name: 100_1910.jpg

I purchased a new trolling motor transducer instead of the quad beam. I am gonn put it on without toggle switch then head to lake and snap some pics and will have an update tonight hopefully.

Default okay fellas, now what do I do????????

Ok, well I took the quad-beam sonar off and installed the brand new "out of the box" dual beam trolling motor sonar today. Went to the lake and away I went.........
Settings:
Sensitivity: 17-20
Chart Speed: 9
Lower range: 10-19ft changing as I went to account for different depths
Beam select: 200/83kHz
Maximum water depth: 100ft
83kHz sensitivity:5
Noise filter: medium to high
Surface Clutter: 1
and NO TOGGLE SWITCH
SAME STORY
Here are some pics:
Top left image. Max Mode with jig and sinker above it-(sensitivity 20)
48845
Top right image Clear Mode to Max Mode
48846
Bottom image Max Mode with Sensitivity maxed at 20
48847

So now I am convinced its with the unit, what do you guys think? Send it to humminbird?
Greg, what do I need to tell them about all the things we have tried so far as well as using a completely new transducer?

Well here's my 2 cents :D (Not sure what it's worth :p)
The top pic is not bad, looks like your in Max Mode, but can see the jig good.
The middle pic looks like you just changed from Clear to Max Mode.
The bottom one looks like Max Mode and just nothing under you.
Have you got any deeper water to try?
DonG was getting about the same and keep playing with the settings and now his is
looking pretty good. He also said he was running an earlier version of the software than we
are, not sure may want to ask him which version.
Good luck man I know your getting frustrated

After re-reading your post I see that's pretty much what you said.
Are there any structure or anything in this lake to get over and look at and adjust your settings until you see it good and can make out what it is??
I don't think it's your unit now, I can not run my Sens that high. About 13 is the highest I run it.
But I'm in NO WAY an expert on this stuff
