Lowarance issues?

I have been wanting to replace the bow unit on my boat for a while, and have been looking at the Lowrance Mark 5 Pro. I know its not top of the line, but looks to be the most unit for my price range. I have always been a humminbird guy, and have never owned a Lowrance. Anyway, was talking to the guy behind the electronics counter a BPS, and he told me that Lowrance has been having a ton of issues, units being returned, units not working properly, and I should not waste my money. I have not heard this from anywhere else, do any of you guys have any info. I don't have any coin to waiste, so don't want to pull the trigger until I know what I'm getting. Any help?

Most counter workers are dip sticks. I have had minimum trouble with Lowrance or HB.

A couple of years ago, when they first come out, there was said to be some issues, but Ive had my 2 hds units since the first of the year, and wouldnt trade them for anything else. I have confidence in my units, but if I had of bought humminbird, I would most likely feel the same about it. I wouldnt be scared to buy either unit... Get what you think fits you.

My son owns two eagles (made by Lowrance) and I own an eagle and lowrance and, knock on wood, neither of us has had any issues. We've owned them multiple years. BTW, places like BPS hires some people to work in areas they know nothing about simply becaue theyre like used car salesmen...they can talk alot and never say anything.:rolleyes:

I've got my two Lowrance HDS units. No problems Couldn't ask for any thing better.

Get You A Lowrance 1510 B Or C Or The X15 Paper Graft I Never Have Trouble With Mine They Are About 25 To 30 Years Old That Should Say Some Thing About A Lowrance I Still Run Them On My Boat Im Going To Use Them Till They Stop Working Or I Cant Get Paper And Belts For Them Thin I Will Get Me A New Lowrance Its Funny When Some One Says Whats That Tv Thing There I Tell Them Its A Paper Graft Whats That Its A Fish Finder Then They Say Never Seen One Be For Ill Show Them The Burnt Paper An They Wont One And Ask Wear They Can Get One I Tell Them At The Bass Pro Shop Lol

I've got a Mark 5 and have had no problems. I really wish I could they still made flashers tho'. I grew up with flashers and know what they are telling me.
