I stumbled onto a horizontal swing arm mount at a Cabela's on clearance for about $45. Works extremely well, however, removing the FF at the end of the day is not easy as a ball mount, but no big deal. Below listed price is $68.00.

If in doubt always go to the next biggest size. We considered trying to get by with a smaller RAM mount but went ahead and got a bigger one. Very glad we did.

This one. Some of the guys are confusing the ball size with the mounting base size. What you want is the D sized ball which is actually 3.68" and has a 2.5" round base.

When you hear "the big one", this is what they're talking about.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

I know everyone says the big one but I have the next size down and my 998 is solid as a rock. It seems to me that if you're impacting waves hard enough to move the 1.5" ram then I'd be glad it did move to help prevent any damage to the unit.
