    Default MK Hand Control


    I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a hand contolled Maxxum to replace my cable (foot) controlled model. I'm getting $350 on the trade-in so it's only costing me $211. I just couldn't get my motor into reverse anymore from the sitting position, especially after a second operation on my knee. When I was bass fishing foot controls were never a problem as I was always standing or in a taller pro seat and all my boats had a sunken foot pedal well. My Pro 175 Crappie has the lower seat which I prefer for fishing sacalait (crappie) and bream, and the pedal was too high to operate w/o putting strains on my knee. Looks like it's also going to free up some more space on my front deck.

    I run a tiller too. For my current set-up I really like it.

    I took it out Saturday for the first time.What a difference. Too be able to suddenly go in reverse with a twist of the wrist was pure pleasure. It was pretty windy Saturday so it got a real workout. I got used to the switch in 5 minutes, after years of foot contolled TM's. I also like all the extra room on the front deck.

    Do you have a momentary switch to engage it without leaning forward? I had one when I used to run a tiller and it was great. Move the motor with the rod and mash the button was all that was usually needed. Bigfoot switches aren't expensive and work well, weatherproof too. My knees haven't been "fixed" but keep me sitting down too.

    I used these when I was using a hand controlled tm. I kept the tm in a certain speed and when I wanted to bump myself forwards all I had to do was tap the footpetal.
