    Default Locator interference

I am having trouble with my locator. Every time I hit the trolling motor pedal, I get interference on the screen. When I let up, the picture is perfectly clear.
Would that be a low battery? I have four batteries hooked up (I'm on a trolling motor only lake). I replaced the three that power the boat this spring, but I didn't replace the one for the accessories. Or is it something else?
    Thanks for any advice.

Typically, this is because the power wires to the TM are bundled with the transducer cable. Make sure that your transducer cable is run down the opposite side of the boat as the TM power wires.

I had the same thing on my Lowrance 522. When ever the trolling motor was activated the screen would have vertical bars of gibberish scrolling across the screen and as soon as I let up it resumed showing good returns on the screen.

Now do to my fast approaching Alzheimer's condition or a couple years passing I can't recall exactly what I done to correct it. It was corrected by changing one of the settings from automatic to manual or vice versa. Probably sensitivity but it worked and isn't a problem anymore.

    Good luck.

I had the same problem, it was a knick in my transducer cable

You didn't say whether you had a HB or a Low....

HB has a trolling motor interference kit that helps...

Also try to keep your power cord away from the TM power cables and if they do have to get close to each other try to cross them at 90 degree angles and not side-by-side

I had that issue with my 798 and the HB interference kit solved the problem. Keep your transducer cable away from your trolling motor power cables.

    Default Interference

I dont know if this is your problem, but I had the same problem with 2 boats,MK Trolling motors and Lowrance units. When MK put the maximizer in there TM it puts off a frequency that your transducer picks up,I had to take both TM to an authorized warrenty dealer and have them add a extra ground in the TM,solved the problem.

I haved an eagle doing the same thing. I already re-wired it from my trolling batteries to the cranking battery, but whenever I start the TM the sceen goes blank. Looks like I might have to make a portable transducer bracket and take the transducer wire out of the coily wire on my MinnKota Powerdrive trolling motor.

BTW, I did raise the sensitivity and start getting readings with fish and structure Thursday when I was fishing. Mine is probably good enough to leave where it's at. Try that first.
