I use a rechargeable spotlight at night and have clips on my floating light, just clip to battery terminals. You could mount a set of small foglights on the front of your boat. Have saw some really small ones that put out a LOT of light that are fairly inexpensive. I personally like my spotlight for running around after dark and you can use it for other things like hooking up winch strap, motor toter, etc. at dark ramps.:D

you can buy small fog lights at walmart, about 2" in diameter. I got two in a pack for around 20 bucks. I mounted one to the left side of my trolling motor bracket, had to drill one hole through the bracket. ran the wires down through the hole where my fishfinder cables go. and back to the dash, where I installed a toggle switch. one is all you will need. they are very bright. and by putting it on the left side of the trolling motor bracket, it don't interfere with your vision. running down the lake. and save the other one, for when the one in use goes bad. as for the floating lights, I have a shad bait light that has two little clips you clip to a battery and drop the light about 3 feet down in the water. be sure to put the light in the water before hooking to battery, or it will blow the bulb. hope this helps. waterdog

do i need an extra battery for running fog lights and a drop light? I already have a battery for the outboard and one for the trolling motor ( 2 batteries) would it hurt if i ran another battery just for my fog light and drop light?

I have two cheap driving lights mounted on the front of mine. Wires are run back to a switch on the console and on to the cranking battery. I also have a cig type outlet under the deck and under the console that's hooked to the TM battery for using the spotlight without the big motor running.
