Thumbs up Just assembled new V2 transfer circuit......

Still waiting on a couple of small parts. Also, I still haven't found a substitute direct replacement connector for the minn kota. I can work around this, but it ain't real purdy with clunker connectors.

You guys interested might wanna start looking for a used set of connectors for the V2. 2 female and 1 male. Would make the install a snap for the less fortunate.

    Getting there.

Kinda looks like that artwork drawing I posted last week don't it.

    No critique from Bullwinkle yet?

What is it that we are transferring? Those relays mounted on that board?

Edit: Nevermind. Seen the other thread below.

Yes sir, I just noticed the other thread. I have a MG on the boat I bought and had been pondering a new TM. I did not know you had to give up the foot pedal on the V2 for the IPilot.

Cane, looks like you added a few more parts than what was in the drawing you posted. Im taking it that those are relays and not IC's? Its hard for me to tell from looking at the picture.

Yep. Miniature relays, simple multiplexer. Selects between Ipilot and foot pedal. Had to add steering as the Ipilot install mod kit actually disables the steering from the foot pedal.( I was just swagging from a copy of an install, so I didn't know about the steering.) The relays have the same footprint as the Ic's. That is a free on line cad program I used. I just used the existing library and fitted the parts I needed to accommodate my circuitry.

It is gonna work, but the problem remains about the connectors. Shellback was right about the connectors being dedicated. It is hard for me to understand the mentality of this dedicated connector stuff. I guess Chinese labor is cheap. I can work around this, but it want be as purdy. It also makes the install more complicated for the less fortunate.

Gotcha. I dont own a MK TM so I dont have anything to look at, but am intrigued by your efforts. I seen where you stated the Terrova uses serial data for the control, Im assuming you're talking about RS-232 or 485? If the V2 was the same way opposed to cable control, it would be easy to do (footprint wise). But from the reading Im assuming the Terrova lets you use either hence the motivation behind your project.

Nice going. I like figuring out how stuff works and then manipulating like you're doing. Im an electronics tech but sadly it's become easier to just swap out an entire module than troubleshoot the board itself, so I don't get real deep into the circuitry anymore.

Yep. It is a disposable world. It will remain this was as long as cheap labor exists. Sad part is the loss of the technical skills needed to repair. Not many bench techs know how to use a scope anymore. Sad sign.
