    Greg, I actually have 2 HB units and they both have the problem and this has occured on 2 different lakes. I havent tried your suggestions, but will try them the next time I am out on the water and try to make a recording.

    Overall, it is an annoyance but not a show stopper for me. I love my down image too much to go back and load old software.

    [QUOTE=Humminbird_Greg;1130219]Cracker68,
    Is there any chance that you could make a sonar recording and send it in to us? QUOTE]

    When I do a recording it seems fine when I view them. Where can I send a recording?

    I have the same problem on my 1197 and 798. My 1197 will read something like .8 and the 798 will jump around. Sometimes it will read the right depth down to 3 foot, other times it might say I'm in 8 ft of water when really I'm in 2 ft.

    When I'm that shallow, I just need to know the depth for navigational purposes. I don't expect to find a secret brush pile with Crappie stacked all over it in 1.5 ft of water!

    Default same problem

    I have thesame problem with the 797 and the 997 , but it seems that I heard somewhere they actually only read to 3 ft from the git go . I would like to see it read 5 ft . but would not give up the other advantages .

    Cracker68,
    I would contact the Humminbird Customer Resource Center folks at 1-800-633-1468 and see if they are still wanting the sonar recordings. They will know where you need to send them.
