My bet is this may lead to a new update from HB and stems from a directory issue with the resident maps in the Nav bundle and how the waypoints file is named. You are getting it because you have the NAV bundle.
Another bet it reloading the waypoints after the update will correct the issue because the directory will then we formed under the new firmware naming scheme.
    When you get a chance:

Would you (or anyone) try going into the simulator mode and move the cursor to a waypoint and zoom in on the waypoint. This is when I noticed the unit restarting.

I was in the process of making (trying to) a simulator mode start waypoint. I moved the cursor from default position (florida) to Ky lake. When I zoomed in on an existing waypoint on Ky Lake, the unit restarted.

This is the reason I removed the waypoints by the way.

I edited out some old junk waypoints and imported the new list. Still working.

I will give it a tryout next week when I return to the lake.

Just curious, do you use an Interlink and have more than 1500 waypoints? Did that once, and the 997 did all kinds of nutty things. There's a practical limit of 1500 waypoints with an interlink.

Not with the unit, with the install.

    Default I tried it

OK Canepole I tried to recreate on my HB the issue you described and nothing bad happened.
I was in simulator mode in the driveway and zoomed in on a waypoint I know 10 miles or so away on the lake. Everything worked fine. Created a new waypoint on the map no problem.
I do not have the Nav bundle but I do have the 2010 plat Navonics card.
