I dont know much about all the electronics you are using, but I say if it fits your needs or solved some of your problems, then good job. I always enjoy making or designing something, over buying something at the store. Looks well made and it seems to fit your need.

Looks pretty sweet to me. I like the idea of having the gps antennae right on top of it. Also with si mounting to the trolling motor creates the problem of having the transducer swing back and forth as you turn the trolling motor to correct for wind gusts etc. About the only thing I'd do different is to make the end holding the down rod as a split clamp with a ratcheting handle. Then you could just loosen the clamp and slide the rod up and re tighten to hold it up out of the water when you wanted to pick up and motor somewhere else. Might be a little easier and quicker than removing the clevis pins. Definitely looks like a professional job though.

If that's a side imaging transducer, you will be lots better off with it mounted the way you have it rather than on the trolling motor. Good job.

    Very clean look! Great job!

[QUOTE=hays47;1105958]Funny when Canepole and Mvinc posted their versions no negative comments. Course that was back in Feb. Their versions are little more complex then mine but same basic principle. They also had more room on their front deck. German Company has website producing another version. May be they are just wasting their money and time too. But they are advertising them for 99 Euro.

I looked for Cane Pole and Mvinc units with no luck. Likewise the German company, no luck. Any links to their work?

Slimey slab- yes I couldn't get anywhere close to what the 987c was worth so I kept it. Used setup today on my local lake and am well pleased with results.

After weighing all comments I think I will stay with my idea.
Don't worry about the comments hays47.....

I still love the bracket I made...

If it works for you..that's all that matters....
I get kinda funny looks sometimes on the lake tho...I had one guy ask me if i was running 2 trollings motors because he thought my Xducer bracket was a second TM....:D

Nice work! I like your idea. I have a extra TD. I may try to do something like this. Thanks for posting. Guys if you don't like it then fine! But keep it to your self. Think about it! If we dog out what people come up with that post there ideas. People will shy away from posting things like this. We don't need this on crappie.com If you can't say something good or in a way that makes it better then I say don't say anything. RIGHT!!!

Bamaman - You should have seen what flak I got when I posted on a Ohio fishing forum on spider rigging. On a visit to North Carolina a native showed me the technique. We had a fantastic week of fishing. Now Ohio law permits only the use of two rods. All the " junior " game wardens on that site jumped all over me. They said I was advocating breaking the game laws.

I had mentioned several time in the rather lengthy post that the method wasn't as effective when you are limited to two rods. Yet since this was not the way they catch crappies it was better to trash the whole idea.

At 62 years of age my hide is tuff enough that I just don't let the yappers bother me. I just thought it was funny that Canepole's and Rnvinc post on their mounts did not receive even one negative comment. Guess the more open minded guys read the posts in Feb. Closed minds will never learn more than what they know right now.

I don't let anyone's negative comment bother me too much either...

As far as I'm concerned....if I don't like how something works from the factory...I'll tear it apart and make it work for me...just like my signature says in my avatar....
