    Default thru hull SI

Has anyone used this transducer? If so, how did it work?

I have a 798CSI and can't seem to get rid of the trolling motor noise and it will NOT scan both directions with the traditional transducer. No matter where I mount the dang thing on the back of the boat (and believe me, I have moved it 10 times!) it reflects off the trolling motor itself and both sides show the same thing. This is on a pond boat that the main motor IS the trolling motor off the back of the boat.

I want to go to this thru hull and get forward a bit but wanted some feedback on it

    Thanks

From what I understand SI will not work thru the hull. Only down imaging. Contact HB they might have a filter that will eliminate the interference.

I called them on this transducer and because it actually does stick out below the hull its supposed to work with SI too. You are right in that the traditional shoot - thru pucks will not work with SI

The Plastic Thru-Hull side imaging transducer will work for side imaging and down imaging. The picture listed above is the Thru-Hull Side Imaging transducer.

I did upgrade and havent had any of those issues. Keep in mind when you upgrade you have to reset to factory defaults. It may just be you need to go back in and readjust the sensitivity and settings you did when you first got it?

Um, you do realize when they say Thru hull, this ducer is designed not to shoot through the hull and be mounted on the inside, it's made to be installed by drilling a hole in the hull, pushing the stem up through the hull and locked in place with a fitting. The ducer then is on the bottom of the hull.....right?

    Just wanted to make sure.

10-4. thats the only way it will work on mine, I have aluminum hull. And two, the protruding puck is what is supposed to make the Si work. I hope I got all this right.

You probably know this, but if you go to the HB SI forum webpage they have a ton of info on all this and more

On the ducer you guys are talking about...maybe it's just me, but I'd be a little leary of mounting that on a boat where I had a floor and couldn't keep an eye on it. Heaven forbid it gets snapped of, but if it did....
