Default What Not to do with your h2o !

Here's a lesson learned the hard way by me and if I rat myself out it may save someone else the headache someday.

I have used my h2o gps for years with the rechargeable batteries and decided the other day to remount the gps to a new spot on the boat and use the 12v wire that came with the unit. I wanted to drill a small hole through the dash and shoot the wire through it and then just hard wire the 2 wires directly to 12v and a ground. Big mistake !! I fried my h20 as soon as I turned it on. That cigar plug that is on the end of the wire converts the voltage down to 3.??? volts. Of course I didn't realize this until it was too late. So now I get to send the unit back and for a mere 160 bucks get a new one without any of my 400 someodd waypoints on it. I suppose there are lots of other little goodies that have this same type of set-up on as well and you can bet i'll be more carefull next time.

Ouch! Thanks for sharing that with us though. May save someone some trouble. Good advice.

You didn't store your waypoints on a MMC card?
