humminbird 161 combo

i bought the 161 combo from humminbird and like it alot but 1 problem.if you change screen views to fast or get in real rough water it locks up and you cant even turn it of.you have to take it off the mount and then is hard to get it to re boot and come back on.its got good conection to the power cord and evry thing is hooked up right.it seems to do this more on the gps screen.has any one used this unit and if so did it do this to you.any help would be great.thanks.

I would check the power connections in between the 161’s power cable and all the way back to the battery to make sure that this is not a low voltage or low current condition. Be sure to check the fuse and fuse holder as well. Any dirty or loose connection as well as any wire that has had some of its strands broken could cause a problem like this.

If everything checks good, I would try swapping units with someone else that has a Humminbird unit to see if the problem stays with the unit or the boat.

If it stays with the unit than you need to call the folks at the Humminbird Customer Resource Center about it 1-800-633-1468.

thanks for the number.it stays with the unit.i took the one off the front of the boat and it will work fine all day.and as i noted this only happens when i am changing screens or in the split/gps screens.
