Guys,
I did the new software update this winter and went out this weekend to a new lake and was doing some side imaging trying to find a submerged roadbed. I can definitely tell that the software update has darkened my side imaging to the point I have to run it on the new amber view to see anything and then the returns are "grainey". I looked at a few other websites and some other people seem to be having a similar problem. I was thinking that I'm going to go back to the old software and see if it fixes the problem and then I can reload and see if it has fixed it.
Anyone ever go back software updates. Where do I get the old software? How do I get it uploaded?

I tried to fix the issue with contrast and sharpness, however it still doeen't seem to make a difference. I figure I will change the software back, and then reinstall or just leave it with the old software
Maybe there is a glitch somewhereI agree try dropping it then reloading other than that maybe contact HB
I went back to the older version of software because I liked the view much better than the new. The new version definitely requires adjustments to get a clear picture. At default setting i find the new updates unreadable. I have since loaded the new version back on and made some pretty significant adjustments and like it pretty well but may again return to the older version.
Adjustments I made were sensitivity 14, contrast up to clicks and sharpness low.
Funny thing is the new software upgrade works great on the 1197. I am thinking it is the side imaging frequency of the 797 that is causing this.
Three ways to get the older software:
- See if the Humminbird Customer Resource folks can e-mail it to you. This does not always work so well due to spam and anti-virus programs stripping attachments from e-mail messages as well as limitations from some e-mail providers.
- Find someone that has the last software update *.bin file and get a copy of it.
- Go to the SideImagingSoft.com forum and download it there:
Humminbird Firmware / Software Updates - Downloads
You have to be a registered user to get to the software downloads but it’s free.
put on the old software, then reinstalled the new software and tried it out on the lake today and it is back to its good ole' clear self. Works like a charm!
