Thread: battery liquid level ?

The electrolyte (acid) does not evaporate ,it is the water that is broken down due to the process of charging,so you can put water in it but you need to go somewhere and get distilled water to put in cause regular tap water has minerals in it which will build up on the plates after several refills.

should be a ring or some kind of off set inside the fill hole, fill to that mark. and definitely use distilled water.

If you look inside you should see a small slot running vertical just fill to the top of that slot. As stated above make sure to use distilled water recharge and you,ll be good to go.

Often, you'll find that filling the batteries to the split in the fill-tube will result in electrolyte splashing out of the battery when running in rough water. I used to be a proponent of doing it "right" and filling to the split, but replacing about three sets of hold-down straps has convinced me that 1/4" over the plates is a better option on a boat.
