    Default Need help on I-pilot

I am trying to sort all this out. I have a few questions about I-pilot please.
    1. What is the difference between a MK terrova 55 and adding an I pilot and a MK powerdrive V-2 with a I pilot. The Pdrive 55 is cheaper at $739 compared to terrova at $1,026 unless I am reading it wrong.
Marine electronics, GPS, Garmin GPSMAP, Minn Kota, Raymarine, Lowrance, ICOM

    2. I have a 16 ft Alumacraft boat, how slow will either product go?
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

With the Pdrive you give up the foot control when you add the ipilot. I have a Terrova so I could keep the foot control but I have never used it because I like the remote so well.
I say save the money get the Pdrive and add ipilot

The Terrova has a different and easier deployment method also.

I added the I-Pilot to a PDV2 and never even used the foot control. As for speed - with the I pilot you can set the cruise control all the way down to 0.1mph if you so desire and it will maintain that speed unless you adjust it up. Of course the wind will move you faster than that and the motor will just turn itself off trying to slow itself down to 0.1.

I have looked at the difference between the Power Drive 2 and the Terrova and for the money, I just could not justify buying the Terrova. The deployment is a little easier with the Terrova, but Cane Pole told me a way of stowing my PD2 with out having to pull on it and it basically drives itself out of the water when I want to stow it. Does not get much easier than that. I dont think I can stow it that way with the I-Pilot, but the I-Pilot sure is nice!!

Also, I am concered about the shaft length, mine now is a 36" shaft and is the perfect length for my Alumacraft w/ a casting deck. the terrova is a 48" I wonder where that 12" of extra shaft will go, up higher or deeper in the water? Not crazy about either I dont want to be crashing in to stumps this spring. Has the shaft length been a prob for anyone else?

depends on the lakes you fish, if you like to fish stumps, and trees you may need the foot controll quicker response time.

I fish a lake close by that has the best bass fishing when it gets 15-20 foot high and floods the woods and requires a lot of manuvering so you answered
    that question Thanks.

You can have the shaft cut down if you have an minnkota service dealer close to you. Gabowman had his cut down, maybe he will see this post and reply or send him an PM and ask about it. I put the i-pilot on my v2 last week and it is a great upgrade well worth the money. My foot hasn't got use to not having to work yet but it will LOL.

I am assuming you mean a cable drive trolling motor which will definitely give a quicker response time, but does not fit the bill for an I-Pilot. As far the the shaft length, at least it can be adjusted up or down depending on the conditions. I know of several people who have had their shaft shortened...(That didn't sound right)
