i have no idea on how im supposed to do this download, i know im supposed to download program to my hd card then put that in my 798 , but i cant figure out how to get the download to the card part? i have registered my unit and it downloaded the update, i know this cause i can see it on my menu for recent downloads, err hell i dont even know how to ask what im trying to ask, fug it i got a hammer ill beat the info into it, then tape it back up with some duck tape

Here's what you do, jhef.

1) Open My Computer and make note of the drives available.

2) Insert your card and wait for it to refresh and note the new drive letter that shows up - ie F:\XXXX where XXX is your card. If it doesn't refresh automatically, close My Computer and open it again.

3) Go to H'bird, and to the download deal.

4) When you click on download, change the download location to the drive that is your card ie F:\XXXXX.

5) Turn your 798 on, reset it to factory defaults then insert the card.

The issue is not that you're not downloading it, it's more likely that you're sending it to a location on your hard drive that you can't navigate back to easily. Going direct to the hard bypasses that step.

i been trying to do it on hbird pc , i waqs going step for step with the you tube video, for some reason i couldnt ever get anything to my card, this time i loaded it straight to the sd card, doesnt show whats on it but it shows that ive put something on card, its a brand new card so i assume its the download, but since ive already ruined one laptop today , just not really sure if im wanting to take the chance and screw up a brand new fishfinder, wannabe you got a private message

The download should show up as a .bin on your card......

This type of format is only something the HB unit can read so you won't be able to open it on your pc but you should still be able to see it on your card....

It should be something like M798.4_78.bin

I did not use HBPC. I put it staight on the card and stuck it in my unit.
