    Default in all fairness

You should take into consideration that the HB has been on the market for 5 years and that we have thrashed around ideas and differant senarios with each other , where as the HDS is new to the market and im sure will still be on the learning curve . Just consider the Customer service and I know where I want to buy .

    Default Objective tests

We are trying to be objective. Whatever the consensus my be today will surly change tomorrow. You can quote me on this fact.

    I'm interested in CP's test.

Unlike some of you, I've seen both units in action.

That small test helped confirm my decision but was not the deciding point in my decision.

So which unit did you select and why?

    I went with two 898's.

    1) Cheaper than Low's esp if you factor in the LSS module.
    2) Only one transducer per unit. ( Didn't want hassle of two transducers at transom OR on the Trolling Motor )
    3) SI at both locations ( didn't want to sit at bow and look at something 18' behind me and couldn't afford to drop another $500 for another LSS module )
    4) HB SI could see farther out than Low ( the low seems to only go out bout twice as far as your depth )
    5) 898 has two SD slots, the HDS7 only has one.
    6) Liked the included external antenna, so I could mount closer to the ducer. ( Low is internal unless you drop $200-$300 for the external )
    7) HB GPS supposedly updates at 4x per second. The Low internal is 1x per second, 5 x per second if you buy the external antenna.

The Low's DS seemed better than HB's DI. When looking at the Low, we rode over a school of fish, looked like a bunch of trash on his 2d but was pretty on the DS.

Anyway, this was some of my reasoning for going with what I did.
