I have a friend with a HDS-5X so when ever we can get on the water I will be able to see it work but with all the stuff going on at Lowrance I wonder. I have owned their products since the green box. Not trying to start anything here Lowrance guys. I was wondering if anyone could post some on the water pixs of the HB 596C and/or the HB 778C. I have not owned any HB's and wanting to replace my Eagle 480 on the TM and move it back to replace my old old Ultra III both of which have bit the dust.

i agree with Beagleman. Back in the early eighties I throwed 2 HB sonars in West Point lake. Both were a problem almost everytime I used them. Lowrance is a good company and every company has ups and downs. Ask Toyota.
Neither the 778c or 596c have a map/memory card slot so the only way to get an on-water picture of the sonar on either of these is with a cell phone or camera. However this may help:
The sonar of the 778c should be the same as the 2D sonar of the 788c and 798c Si units.
The 596c will have the same sonar capabilities as the 597ci unit.
There are a few 2D sonar images from the 798 unit in the “Images: 2D – Humminbird” photo folder on the Yahoo UnOfficial Humminbird Side Imaging Group web site:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sideim...27412/pic/list
as well as one in the “Model: 798c” photo folder on the same site:
Yahoo! Groups: Groups Error
You will have to become a member though to be able to see these.
You can also try looking in the “General Pictures” section of the Unofficial Humminbird Forums web site (no membership needed).

There just aren’t as many images of the 2D sonar out there as most want to see the Si and now D sonar pics.
