What is the "donut" that canepole &

others have posted about. I JUST got a new 788ci combo, haven't even installed it yet so please give me the low down on the donut. Thanks

When sitting or trolling real slow the boat icon turns into a circle, I think it has to do with the slow GPS. But I'm sure someone else will give more detail.

If you have a waypoint that you want to sit on, and fish, when you get on the spot that Magic donut will pop on and you'll be able to slowly drift away from your spot and you won't really be able to track it with your unit because the donut will continue to sit there. It's got to be the single most annoying feature of humminbirds. You'll have to troll away from the spot fast enough to get the donut to go away then troll back to the waypoint. This is a vicious cycle that you will have to get used to.

Do yourself a favor and buy marker bouys, you'll need them.

Had the 997 mounted in my truck riding around the neighborhood with the SI and a looking up women dresses in the neighborhood.

997 ain't got no sweet thang voice telling me which way to go. However, I believe I heard ol Joby or Greg mumbling something inside the unit.:p

Mine shows up when I'm slower than .6mph. It is annoying, especially in the winter when you need to slow down.
