    Default Eagle 642c

I have one & am not happy with the way it picks up the sattelite.sometimes it may go several minutes before it hooks up.

A good friend has one and likes it. I have a Lowrance 522C and his and mine takes about the same amount of time picking up satellites. That's not a problem though. I turn my unit on when launching and by the time I'm back in the boat to leave the ramp everything is a go. (Actually, the longest I think it's taken was only 2-3 minutes. Seems like a long time if youre just setting there waiting though:o.)

dont have one but I,m not in a hurry to go any place so if it takes a few minutes to make contact with sat, that would work for me

I'm running an Eagle 640C on the bow of my boat, bought to replace a 480. I wanted gps capabillity and nav card up front. I went with the Eagle because the features and price seemed to make it worth trying. Another plus was the mounting bracket was the same. Just had to slap the 640 on the boat plug in the power and run the gps chord.

So far I've been pleased with the unit, haven't noticed any type delay being a problem with my fishing. Usually fishing slow enough that it's good.

I just put mine on in Sept. Before that I have only had the cheap eagle brands(fisheasy II) but I got great use out of those for many years. I wanted a color graph and a GPS so I bought the 642C and I love it. Less expensive than the lowrance and humminbirds models but still a quality product. I also added the hot maps card and it shows much greater detail on the lakes I fish. I love mine and have had no problems.

Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!

I know they are made by Lowrance, but I've always had better luck with my Eagle units than I have with Lowrance. Go figure? Cabelas had a heck of a deal on the 642 awhile back, but I missed out. Good luck with your new unit.
