Default HDS 5 or HDS 5x

I am still trying to figure out what I want. I have read about each one but i can not figure out the difference between the two. Do they both work with the structure scan.

Also is the lake insight upgrade worth the price tag.

I have a HB 787c in a box that I am looking at. I can take it back and pick up the HDS for another $150. Any help will be appreciated.

    Default hds

    hds 5 sonar/gps
    hds 5x sonar
    hds 5m gps (chartplotter)

Both the 5 and 5x will work with structure scan. Insofar as the mapping, it would be a personal choice. Many people opt to get the basic mapping and IF they need to take it a step further they get a card that covers the region they live in (hot maps).

My take...they are not currently selling a lot of the units with insight thus the $50 rebate. Insight, my interpretation, would benefit people along coastal waters, big lakes, etc. For me its just not feasible due to my location.

    Default lowrance HDS 5

I bought a HDS 5 with enhanced base maps last year and really like it, but I was at Bass Pro in Springfield last week talking to them about the new side imaging upgrade. ($600). The reps at Bass Pro thought that the middle of this year Lowrance would start selling the HDS units with the side imaging upgrades included at a reduced package price.
