    Default Second returns

Are confusing me. I know I'm over a hard bottom, but I'm getting a lot of readings in the spots signaling fish at depths that don't make sense.
Anybody have an extra literature they can point me towards to understand how to interpret this better. I'm catching fish in these spots when I'm not in others but the fish are staggered with incorrect depths making it frustrating.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Take the unit off of "Auto Range" and set it manually. Set it so the real bottom is as close to the bottom of the screen as possible. Then you won't see the second reading. It will simplify your view.

I believe that all recent finders, $79 or $3000, if they show a blip, there is something there. They don't lie. Of course, sometimes it is suspened leaves and such.

Yeah, I set it manually. I gave it some extra footage, about 5 more, in case I were to run up on a hole I don't know about.
So maybe I should set it to as close to the exact footage I know it to be and go from there?

    thx ranger
