Unhappy Confused as a sterile rabbit

I want a side imaging, down imaging for my console....After locating a brush pile using this unit, I would like to go to the trolling motor to pinpoint the brush pile and have a down imaging unit for a precise picture..

Does HB or Lowrance offer such a setup or will both gouge me for 2 SI units..?

I might have asked this question before but I need clarity...

Well probably need two units,my guess?, however U could get a new 998 with video out capability & mount a monitor screen($120.?) in front of boat to see what is on 998 screen- now that said ?? with placement of transducer & length of boat, depth of water-- U may play Heck trying to get/keep front of boat over downimage?? Well U get the picture!! Or U may also have to install a 2nd ducer on troll motor/with a switch to switch over to that ducer. So for cost of say $400 maybe less, for monitor, switch,& ducer it could be done...........

find that brushpile then toss a marker onto it.
Then use your trolling motor to get back on top of it.
    Cost for the marker $2.00

I use my si at the console and will find the structure, I take the coordinates and enter into my handhelp Garmin GPS 76 ($80.00 on ebay). I move to the front of the boat and troll to the structure from 100 ft out and get a pretty true course. I then use my $100.00 hummingbird mounted on the trolling motor to find the structure. Now what I am considering doing is putting a si transducer and mount on the trolling motor and moving my si unit to the front of the boat while fishing. Hopefully this could help me see more fish. Hope all this makes sence.

I can do this with my Tablet or my Garmin. This is why I keep asking about the video out.

Cheaper than another unit. My cost = $0.0.

Don, I'm working on a similar system for myself right now. There are many ways to do this but if done right few are cheap... especially if you want a big screen for the front too. I had a Humminbird 1197c SI w/NVB installed yesterday at the console and will be having a Humminbird 1157c combo installed on the front using the down looking sonar unit that comes on a Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor.

The 1157c is down looking only and does not have the SI. It is just a little over half the price of the 1197c SI if purchased right. This is not a super cheap option but at least you can have that 10.4 inch screen at the front. If you are like me... your eyes ain't getting any younger. I know you can network the systems together and see things from the console unit at the front position but I am no expert as to what all you can do yet.

I don't get my boat back till tomorrow at best and with this crazy cold weather I'll be lucky to get it in the water this weekend to play with the 1197c SI. I am having my electronics installed in increments due to the extreme cost of this project. I will be getting the Terrova next and then 1157c. It may be a little while before I can tell you how well this combo works. Surely someone else on here as already done something similar to this and can give you more info sooner than me. Good luck with your project... nccrappiegirl
