I believe you have to buy the interlink unit to be able to share puck between units. May be wrong though.

i have a 797 on my console and just bought another mount(mount, power wire, transducer) so i can use it by the trolling motor too.but my question is the gps module,is there a cable where i can run two mounts with one gps puck or do i need to find a gps puck.if there is a cable made to make the one puck work will it affect accuracy, thanks in advance

If U don't want to buy another puck, I would mount your puck with Velcro so it can be moved to front when using the trolling motor(troll motor is on front?right) cause if U try to use existing puck where its at your GPS is goin to be off by the 10-14 feet?? or so the distance from its presence location to the area where troller is. Or mount your GPS to your 797 bracket so it goes with 797.
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.....

They make a cable about $30.00 I think that will let you share the gps puck to both places
The SysLink cable will allow two units to use the same GPS Receiver (but not share data between them). You could connect this to your existing GPS Receiver and use it at both the console and bow. However, Jaxsprat is right about the waypoints or location being off. With this configuration a waypoint that will show you as right on top of on your console unit will place your trolling motor unit 6 to 14 feet or more off (depending on your boat).
The InterLink will allow the same thing but you will not be able to get the faster GPS refresh rate with the GPS Receiver connected to the InterLink – I do not recommend going this route.
You could look into buying a RAM type mount that has a place to mount the GPS Receiver on the mount with the unit. Just be sure to use one that will place the GPS Receiver up so that the unit is not blocking any of the satellites. I’ve seen where someone was selling one of these that bolts onto a RAM mount but do not remember where it was. You could make your own with some sheet metal or even a piece of wood/plastic.
