    Default Ozi explorer question

I have a lowrance ifinder, I have decided that I like my "old" Lowrance Global Nav 12. I have having trouble using the "old" unit with Ozi. Yes. I changed the unit in the configuration setup up.

I started out getting a "comport error" message and now I am getting "failure to initialize gps error".

    Any help?

I use Ozi and Lowrance also. I just had to keep changing units in the "configure" page until it started working but I'm sure you've already tried that. You could go to the Ozi website and see if there is an update for your version. If you've already updated Ozi, that might be why it won't work. Had that happen one time and had to go back to an older version of Ozi that I kept on disc. I know they're constantly updating that program. Sometimes it's better and sometimes not.

    Sixfin,
What Lowrance GPS are you using? I think it is some setting that I have wrong on my GPS. I can remember it happening when I used Ozi alot several years ago but I don't remember how to fix it.

    Thanks for your response,
    Tom

I was using the 5200. I'm now using HDS 7s. I know on the HDS units that I have to choose a certain setting when saving my waypoints to an sd card. I think it was the "user data file version 2". I know it ask if I want the 2 or 3 or 4. I believe the 3 and 4 version also save depth and altitude data and Ozi doesn't like that so I have to use the 2 version.

Thanks for your help. I finally got it working. It had something to do with the NMEA settings on my GPS.
