Is it possible for the 1197 (2010 model or older) to split the screen into 3...??

    Possible scenarios....SI / DI / 2D .....or ..... SI / DI / GPS goto

It absolutely is. Below are some 3-way split screen captures from my 1197. These show Down Imaging (upper left), 2D sonar (lower left), and Side Imaging (right).

The 3-way split is part of the upcoming (2010) software release.

I have a few additional 2-way and 3-way split screen images, illustrating Down Imaging in action, posted on the site below:

An introduction to Humminbird Down Imaging

Like all of the instructional work I do, these images are interpreted and annotated to help newcomers to the technology become more comfortable with it...and to use it on the road to becoming a more complete angler.

Jason brings a good point in his post about using a pre-release LakeMaster card in his 1197 unit. The older units may not be able to handle these as well as the new 1197, 898 and 998 units can due to the speed of the processor. We have not received any of these cards to try yet (boy, you must be connected Jason!) so all I can do is speculate about it at this point. The fact that you will be able to do things with the data the LakeMaster map cards will be showing on the Humminbird units tells me that it will take more processing power to do so.

    Roger R,
I have not heard anything about upping the warranty period.

    Hi Greg,

    Thanks again for the response.

After I fired off the question about the warranty, I said to myself that its probably not a question you should be answering this time of the year (IE. before the 2010 models come out).

Hopefully, Humminbird will up the warranty period. Time will tell.

    Thanks again,

    Roger

As it happens, I work closely with a video production company, and we've produced a number of instructional videos...mostly focusing on walleye fishing techniques, such as the one below.

If there is demand for a Humminbird instructional video, I'm sure we'd consider putting one together.

Does the 1197 (2010 model or older) have 2 SD card slots and what are the designated purposes for each slot...??

Yes the 1197 has two SD/MMC card slots. Either can be used for updating the software, uploading/downloading GPS data, making screen snapshots and sonar recordings. If you have a map card in slot #1 and a blank SD card in slot #2 than make a screen snapshot or sonar recording the unit will send it to the blank SD card.

Does the same thing happen with the 997CSI.
