Guys I think the reason that you are having to wait for the 4.700 software for the 997 units is that the 997 is not a 2010 year model product. The Engineers really have had to hustle to get these updates ready for those units we made both last year and this year (they still have a few to complete). Plus they have to get all of the new 2010 model units up and running as well. So I think it is just a time-crunch deal and I’m sure they will get the software for the 997 done as soon as they can.

Good idea on being able to install just the software for those features you want but do not know how well this could be implemented.

I hate waiting. I need that update on the 997 now. I went Satuday morning to find some new brush piles. Mark a bunch with SI but had a terrible time coming back to look at them with down sonar and possible fish them. It is real frustrating especially being a semi new user. Tournaments are starting and the fish is going to the brushpiles and there are new lakes on the fall schedule.

That makes sense. Thanks Greg. I'm sure HB is trying to get these updates out as quick as they can without a bunch of bugs that would require another update to fix.
