    Default Universal sonar 2 question

Anybody here had one just quit working? How did it go, gradually
    or all at once?

Mine just quit yesterday, like it lost bottom. Turned it off and on,
cleaned bottom of transducer, wiggled all the connections, reset defaults,
    no change.

Swapped unit to another transducer and it worked fine. Tried the other unit
on this one, nothing. All the connections are clean and shiny, I ended up
taking the cable ends out of the mount and plugging diectly onto the head
    unit, no difference.

Funny, but I can put my ear down by the transducer
and hear it clicking away, but it won't find bottom or show any return

My scientific estimate would be that the crystal is cracked and not sending or receiving. it can still "thump" with a crack in it, but no telling what the transmitted frequency may be, if any.

Well, water was around 31' when it went "poof" but I got up into 5' or
so while trying to troubleshoot it. Gonna check ONE more thing before
I give up, I'm thinking there is a connector on the cable in the head of
the tm, gonna look and make sure it is connected, clean.
If no luck there, looks like I'm in the market for a transducer

I have the universal sonar on my minnkota and it started showing intermittent bottom signals, sometimes with blank spaces in between. I took it to a guy here in kc mo. and he just replaced it for about 150$. I figured trying to thread cables through the shaft housing was out of my limited mech. abilites. Good luck!
