Default Looking for the Lowrance 522c

I am looking for a "New in the Box" Lowrance 522c. I know that Lowrance stopped producing this unit and is now just putting the HD units on the market but does anyone know a comapny that still has a few in stock at a decent price. I want to replace one of my units and I want a 522. I thought about one of the HD units but they are still having to many problems with them.

Darrel, from what I understand, the water intrussion issue has it's greatest frequency in the 500 series Lowrance units.....you may already know this, but considering the price difference in a 522 and an HDS5 which is not that great and the fact that the HDS unit comes with a 2 year warranty, you might be better off with the HDS.

As far as a source, I'd check that link above and J and H products as well. Past that, there's always Ebay (yuck) or boards like this one to search through, as well as craig's list. Used, you're looking at $400 to $450 with no warranty and a new HDS is gonna set you back in the 7 bill range - on sale at Cabellas BTW.

I wanted a 522 myself, but found them hard to find. I did buy a 527c igps and have only used it a few times. Mine was NIB with all hardware, shipped for $550. I know the birds are the hot ticket right now but didn't have the extra. I bought mine as much for the gps/navigation as for the sonar. My last boat was a 16' alum /25hp. Now have 18' bumble bee w/150. Just a little step up. I didn't want to hit a shoal and these show channel in darker color. Worked fine til the mechanic broke the TD bracket. New one waiting. Love it so far, best stored inside away from high heats according to previous posts from other owners. Good luck in your search.

People keep talking about a water issue with the 500 series Lowrance. I've only heard of a few people having these issues and they were both on C.C

I bought a used, 520c off ebay and it's worked flawlessly. I've had it in the rain and the heat of summer usage. I've never covered it, but I do garage the boat when not in use.

I've never seen a manufactuer that is able to make every product 100% perfect each and every time.

If I were looking for a discontinued unit, I would look strongly at a refurb. When a product gets refurbished, it usually gets repaired by the specialists that work for the company. You get the warranty and all, not to mention the $$$ saved by buying refurbished unit.

I have bought many electrical components that were refurbed and never have had a problem with any of them.

Did I mention, the 520c I bought used is perfect??
