I use a 256K in mine (which is an original Ifinder and no it will not read a 1 or 2 gig card. I tried to do a update with a buddy of mine and share some waypoints but I couldn't find a small enough card that would read in his unit.) Now Cane I know you have a bunch of these smaller memory card stuffed in a drawer somewhere in your house. Also check your camera boxes as they sometimes come with a small memory card to help get people started. I use GPS track maker but any converter will work.

Make sure to down load the latest operating software also from Lowrance.

I have card reader also. If you want to borrow it just send your SI unit to me and I will hold it for you until you return it.:D

Or.... If you can find a smaller SD card w/ your waypoints you can mail it to me with a return envelope and I could send it back with the converted waypoints and the updated version software. Your trying to go HB to Lowrance format right?

Frogger is right. A 256 is plenty big enough.

Tom, any card reader for a PC will read the card. It's merely an SD card. Unlike Garmin, the card is the same you would use for a camera. For me to input waypoints from a list, I have done it manually, simply scrolling the cursor to the coords and hitting...enter/enter to create the waypoint.

GPS Coordinate Converter, Maps and Info

I use this site for conversion of waypoints, then will manually scroll the cursor to them.

Once I have inputed the info, I save it to a file on the PC for future use. Then simply stick the card back into the Ifinder and am done.

They are correct in saying to use a card with smaller memory.

Go here for some free Topo Maps from Lowrance to DL into the card. The old Ifinders are slow, so, I would only stick a lake on there that he fishes.

Also, make sure you visit Lowrance site for updates to the Ifinder.

The WAAS is very sensitive and will lose sattelites if in hilly or wooded terrain. I leave the WAAS off and am still able to get within a couple of feet of my waypoints.

I have an original Ifinder and an H2Oc. They are both extremely accurate.

    I hope this helps.

I dug up a 256 Meg SD. The best I can tell is size matters and Extenze don't work. I will find out Friday.

    Thanks all for the info.
