    Default 12v Minn Kota

My 24v 65lb Riptide finally died after 10 yrs & a lot of use. Going to put on a 12v 55lb Power Drive I bought 3 yrs ago & is still in the box. Will one good 12v battery be ok to fish for 6 or 7hrs. I don't troll, just work the break lines & adjust for the wind when I'm drifting open water.

I use a series 31 battery for my Endura 55. I have a 14' Collins Craft. Its a fiberglass flats skiff. With two men in the boat, we have run that little trolling motor ragged. I think with a good deep cycle you can probably get away with using it.

But, the Endura is a speed coil design. That mean that no matter what setting you use, you're still using the same amount of power from your battery. I'm not sure what your old motor design was. I don't know if it had a digital maximizer or not. If it did, then it used up to 4/5's less power than the one you're about to start using.

I had a 40pd for about 5 yrs and would sometimes run the battery down pretty low. heavy wind and a light 16' jon. I wound up with 2 big deep cycles tied in parallel to run everything and never had another problem, start or troll. Used low end wally world Batts (not the yellow ones, mine about $65 each) and changed em out about every 2 1/2 to 3 yrs. They're good on the pro rate thing. You'll like the pd, took me a while to warm up to it but I'm looking at some with the sonar and auto pilot. They don't give em away.

Since you already have 2 TM batteries, just rewire them in parallel to be sure.

    Default Batteries

I'm trying to get away from the 2 batteries. They are very hard to get out of the compartment they are in when I put it away for the winter. I think I will try the one, if it doesn't work I can put the second one back in.

I ran my 55# 12v Autopilot last night from 7:00PM till 11:30PM trolling with just one battery. I have 17 foot G3 with an F50 Yamaha.

Thanks for the responses to my post. Put the single 12v battery (Interstate) in. Used it 15hrs the last 3 days without charging & it worked fine.

If at all possible you should recharge after every use. Your battery will last much longer.

If you have 110v in the area that you store your boat....I would suggest getting a 2-bank charger/maintainer and keep it plugged up year round....when you're not actually out fishin.....
