    Default Clicking/arcing sound from Transducer

I have an old Hummingbird wide 128 and i've noticed the transducer seems to have a clicking/arcing sound when it's turned on. It doesn't seem to affect the operation of the sonar as it resembles closely what my buddies suction cup fishfinder did last night that we used to verify my fishfinder worked and read correctly.

Anybody have any idea as to why that would be? I'll probably be looking up the price for a new transducer or even a new fishfinder in general...

    Default Run!!!

    Al,
Quick run – she’s ‘gonna blow!

    Just joking! :D
The ticking sound you are hearing is when the unit pings or transmits to the transducer. This is quite normal and does not mean that anything is wrong or going bad.

That's not funny, because the first time I heard it I actually jumped overboard thinking it was a bomb... :p Not really!!! LOL

Good to know it's working correctly I guess, almost annoying though.

    Thanks,

    Al

I've got one on the console/transom. I can hear it when I'm up front if I leave it on.
