    Default Humminbird Gps Question?????

The plug for my GPS puck on my 797si has an additional wire coming off of it with a cap on it. I was wondering if anyone knew if I could connect them to my ship to shore radio that is gps ready and use it for my CB as well. My radio has a plug that has two small wires similar to my humminbird and is labled GPS. Thanks

I guess I should be more specific. My ship to shore radio has a panic button that will transmit your gps coordinace when activated. It has a plug on the back that has a small red and black wire and is labled GPS. Does anyone know if I can hook it up to the Humminbird GPS puck? Thanks

Sounds like your radio is DSC capable. Yes the ‘pigtail’ wire coming from the GPS Receiver’s connector is where you would get the NMEA 0183 data from your Humminbird unit to the radio. You will find three wires under that black cap: Red, White and Black. Red is a +12V connection which you will not use. Terminate it so that it does not make an electrical connection to anything else or you could damage the circuitry that powers the GPS Receiver. The White wire is the NMEA + connection and the Black wire is the NMEA Ground connection. Check the manual for your radio to see which wire should connect where. When all is connected you will have to set the NMEA Output menu in your Humminbird (found under the Setup menu tab) to the “On” setting.
