    Default Lowrance SI preview

It's almost here folks. Humminbirds GPS issues may come back to haunt them in the future.

Those of you with an HB SI, chime in and discuss a few differences if any.

If you think Humminbird's slow refresh GPS problems will haunt them, you ought to check out the problems Lowrance is having with their HD products.

Had Lowrance for years. Now have a 997. Lowrance units can be decent---their customer service sucks. Ain't going back. They're always bringing up the rear on technology.

sounds like ford vs. chevy.....minnkota vs. motorguide......hummingbird vs. lowrance.

I always kind of chuckle when I see someone ask a question about a product. The question usually gets lost in the first couple of posts. It usually becomes a 2 or 3 page rant. Rarely do you ever see the comparisons with out all the emotions. One day maybe, just maybe it'll go beyond this. (but I doubt it)

I'm not trying to point out just Shellback's post but.....
I just wish we'd see more SPECIFICS. Exactly, what are the problems. I've been kind of looking at some type of SI but comments like "LOWRANCE STINKS" leave a lot of room for why they stink. Does that mean evey unit that Lowrance has ever made is no good. That's not true. Most products, especially with the new technology that's coming out, have some kind of issues. It's kind of hard to figure out the good or bad when people attack just the brand name. Someone mentioned returning a unit in 2 days with "water still in it", I'm curious as to what led to water even being there? Did it come that way? Did it just get rained on? Was the unit even used?

I can understand being upset when you put out that kind of money for a product and it not working as advertised, I'd be po'd off too. It would sure help the rest of us understand exactly what the problems are, if the threads would not drift into the xxx vs yyy.

Google up Lowrance's customer service phone number. Now imagine you have a recently purchased $500-$1500 Lowrance product that you are having problems with, then call that number. After endless busy signals or waiting 45 minutes or so before hanging up, tell me you would be pleased with one of their units. Either they have alot of dud units on the market, which if you surf the fishing sites, that seems to be true, or they don't have enough customer service reps for the "few?" problems they have. I gave up trying to contact them, and to the best of my knowledge, they have no email listing for customer service. I've had issues with other companies units, and they are all busy this time of year, but I type a simple email to Garmin and get a response within 2 days. No trying to get by busy signals on the phone or sitting waiting for someone to answer. Maybe most of their units are good, but God help you if you get a dud.
