IMO (Stepping out of the box) feel it could be a math issue meaning:

The material used has a certain floating characteristic formula in which case different molds may have a larger area than others creating more buoyancy to the product.
Hear again if you compare it to a float, to much weight will sink it so there has to be a balance

M-F may have what limitation of area vs weight you need for this product to stay afloat

Finally success. I combined the minnow I made with the M-F Soft plastic AND a hard foam fish pill floatie from another manufacturer. The result is an extremely light presentation that Crappies and deep water Perch will easily inhale. Total cost of the rig is less than five cents to create. I like that.
