Nip, there are times of the open water season here that a green fluorescent chartreuse does better than the traditional yellow. Generally the water has to be warmer than it is right now though....75 degrees or more. The lake I fish locally can have water anywhere from clear with visibility down to 10-12 feet right down to muddy and visibility of about 4". Got about 4 feet right now. Every once in a great while when the water is muddy black offers itself up as a decent reverse contrast color, one being darker than the water. People fishing plastic at night use black for the same reason. I prefer purples and blues over black.
