Getting Creative With Plastic
Lately, I have been watching a lot of how-to's on making soft plastics. I recently began to think maybe I could get into this gig and create my own baits. It looks simple enough and rather cost effective. Not only that but it looks like so much fun to come up with all new colors and patterns.
With that said, I've done some looking around and found that Alumilite has a soft plastic starter kit for around 80$ with everything needed to get started.
But this brings up a question or two. Not about the kit but more about what can be used in the plastic itself. But I'd like to get any critiques on the kit if anyone has purchased and used it.
Is there a special type of glitter that can only be used in the soft plastic or can any craft glitter be used?
When making silicone molds from clay masters, does the clay HAVE to be baked and hardened or can the rubber be poured over the wet clay form, with or without mold release?
Can the baked sculpey clay be returned to its moldable state?
Is there a way to reuse already cured silicone?
I know this is a lot of questions but I want to get my ducks in a row before I start making a list of things I'll need to get once I get the money to do it.
