Thread: Lure Craft Red

Does Lurecraft make a transparent Red? I'm looking for Ruby red. I know bears does but his dang shipping is crazy. Thanks.CF

If I remember right I believe CTOM said to get the transparent colors to cut back on the color itself and I believe not to add white as it would make it opaque in color. can always heat the plastic and add a drop and mix and so forth till you get what you want....

Try mixing the red using a couple drops less, then after having a chance to see if its the transparent red you want, you can add some raw plastic to your cooked color to thin it out and make it transparent. Lots of colors can be brought back to transparent after the initial cooking but it seems that the initial cooking is needed to "set" the color.

CTom, when do You add the raw plastic? before heating the red again or heat red and stir in raw plastic?CF

I'll put a small amount of raw plastic to a cup along with a shot of stabilizer and stir it well, then add the red re-melt to the cup in chunks to heat. You do have to get this back to the 350 mark because of the fresh plastic so the heating should be done in 15 to 20 second steps and stirred after each shot in the microwave.

Also you can thin colorant using worm oil also, just add it together in a seperate bottle. And myself I add colorant before I heat mine always.

IIRC Lurecraft red was ugly and the LC strawberry was better.

Obviously thickness of bait and appendages/tails will really effect color.

Too light a red will lokk pinkish.

I like bears red shad personally.

I find lurecrafts red to be too dark.. Not as bright as I expected
