....no colorant.

The pink and purple plastics seen in this picture are made using a pearl powder created for mixing custom paint colors in the automotive industry. Hot rod paints specifically. I'd been snooping for some things to color powder paint and this site shows up on my radar so I checked it out. For powder applications this pearl is tolerant of heat to over 600 degrees so I figured I should get some. It arrived yesterday but I didn't open the package until today and then figured I should try this in plastic. It does a pretty decent job considering less than 1/4 teaspoon of powder is in 4 ounces of plastic to get the colors you see and the pearling effect is something else in the sun.

The same company has pearl powders that chameleon between two and three colors. Fifty sheckles for 25 grams of that powder but the 25 grams of powders that I just got will tint enough clear powder paint to do several thousand heads. I might have to spring on one of the 4 chameleon colors.
