Thats the same way i was doing it also, but I started asking questions. I went out and got a organic vapor respirator, the I was poking around at an auction and bought the range hood vent for $9.00 brand new in the box. I suspended it with chain so i could move it if need be and hooked up a dryer hose to it and called it good. I'm happy with it, its not fancy but it is functional.

by golly I think you are on the right track we have done this two times already using a stove hood but we have changed things we are using a blower fan the type that will blow air out of the attic outside and we cut a wall made a whole and practice big fan and I put a plywood would around it it is more sufficient I will take pictures later and post them your wanting it is much ventilation is possible and I do have two of these fans in my work area besides I could open up the garage door I should say shop door and ventilated more yet.
