Default New to the dyi plastics

I am new to the dyi plastic world, I have many questions. Would it be wise to recycle old plastics in to new til I figure out weither or not this is for me, or start with plastisol? would the plastic quality be the same or look likea hot mess? I'm wanting to design my own baits so should i make a mold with plaster or find an aluminum jig maker? Last but not least hand pour or injection? I know I'd get better quality with an injector but I'd like to keep the cost down if at all possible.

First off run now while you still can!!! OK you have been warned welcome to the addiction lol for crappie stuff injection is about all we have. The best bet is to order a pint of plastic and a couple colors. Store bought baits have different additives that some times don't remelt well. You can make molds out of bondo, clear cast, plaster Paris and other materail .aluminium is best of coarse.

I would say if you were going to shoot just a few for yourself I would not recycle the plastic for us guys that are shooting a ton of stuff we have a lot of scraps and waste we do use it most the time that we turned to black if I get too much on hand I just throw away we average about 3 gallons every few days that wind up in the garbage makes you, sick to your stomach knowing the cost of plastic nowadays but that's the way it goes when you are shooting a lot.

Welcome from Alabama. I have been doing soft plastics for about a year now. Of course I started off doing the plaster of paris mold thing and hand pouring lures. It was not long before I was convinced to get my first aluminum mold and injector. In my opinion you will be happier with the aluminum mold and injector system. I do reuse some old plastic I have made up for myself. The trick is always to add a bit of plastisol to the old plastic. Cut the old plactic into micro pieces then add some plastisol. It does not take long to reheat it.
