    Hi Bob,
It wouldn't be problem to make the tube bait and other skirted molds with straight dowel pins and you wouldn't have use the nails. The shirts would have to be sliced by hand after injection though and I know that lure craft makes a tool for it. The pins with the grooves to form the tail strands where the pain to make. I've heard from a few customers that they prefer the hand cut tube baits over the molded ones anyways, so I'll work on some new tube bait and skirted molds with straight pins after the holidays.
I appreciate your input and ideas. I don't know why it never occurred to me to go back to the basics and make those molds for hand cut baits.
    Thanks again and Merry Christmas!

Rick is the man! I bet a dollar he could sale a ton of precut skirts molds. I love my tube mold he made me back in the day. I just need more skirt rods!!!! I have to say that mold impressed the heck out of me. SNAKE how does the 1.5 in skirt from bass tackle work for tubes? I would love to see a tube with those skirts

I'm sure this will create a lot of interest with Rick how did you know that I had a 1.5 skirt from Bass tackle I do not know I haven't tried it but we do have the skirt you can use it is a jig if you like all by itself did you want a few to mess with to see if you like them they are awesome but a pain in the butt to shoot. I had to pre-drill the hole to shoot them the whole is not big enough anyway the one that I have after I did that they shot a lot better.also on the shed skirt mold try to make the hole bigger.to see if that will work I have not predrilled mind yet but I'm thinking about it real seriously be careful not to overdo it I do have some other cutie pies I think that you would be really interested in I will post some later on these will be not made by the big boys I'll let you guys decipher who they come from.

Lol Bob I can spot a mold and who made it from aways off lol I drilled the shad mold and just screwed it up. Worse. The shad body was the worse mold he ever made but the skirt for it is amazing Example of incredible workmenship. He did an awesome job on that skirt

I have fished with tubes for years and even have several jig head molds custom built for them. I like them but have been messing around with the pin tail type shad daddies and I like them a lot. I am slowly switching over to other baits like the flappers from RonDon wich have been catching some very nice crappie. A lot of my friends have switced over to pin tail type baits and aren't using tubes anymore. Like everything else it changes some then goes back to the basics after a while. Bob, you might post a survey on the main board and see what everyone is using. Might be surprised! I am sure Rick would be interested to know!

I catch tons of fish on tubes and I catch tons of fish on the stinger/pintail type molds. I would like to have a tube mold but I wont buy one unless the tails are precut in the mold. I have tried cutting the tails myself and it is a hassle and did not look good.

I'll bet you $1 million that number one selling plastic made in the United States would be a tube skirt for crappie how much would you pay for a mold that was precut inside on the skirt like 10 cavity are you willing to pay $100 for that type I'm sure that the input that you state here and maybe pass this on to Rick will help out Rick's decision to remake these again my myself would dearly pay over $100 for certain types like I said in the past the industry watches us pretty close on caring reads always post so your guys's input would be very welcome to them to read you the fisherman also you guys did make plastic baits and sell them on here it's very helpful to everyone to know what each other thinks as you know I've made a few sketches and send them out to you as a mold makers and now you guys are buying the molds him only one individual in this world that enjoys doing my hobby and also helping out others such as the industry I have worked with the industry for quite a while in certain ways so you guys out there your input here would be very welcome and I dearly Would like to hear your feedback's this is one question I would like to ask right here how many of you do use plastic baits and how many of you are using hand-tied jigs for years I've used both and I will continue to do so you never know what the fish may want from day to day in their feeding frenzy and I hope that everybody on here can work together and enjoy this site were here to help one another I hope I remember when this post was a dying thing and median seeker, long and This site going I'm so glad that we did so it has created a lot of interest over the past few years right should say couple years and I hope this will be a continuous thing on crappie.com I believe this post is very interesting and we do have some interesting discussions and I'd like to see everybody posting plastic baits to show what they are doing I for one hope to see many of you guys there thinking about getting into plastics do so I am here to help you if you need help I've always helped out many of you guys in the past and I will continue to do so and with that I say Merry Christmas to everyone on the plastics .PS I wonder if any of you other mold makers out there would be interested in making tube Skirts precut in the mold .

I am a nc programmer and have worked in a machine shop since i was 16. With the work that must go into the pins for a tube mold, I would say a fair price would be the cost of the mold plus thirty dollars for each pin. That is the reason I suspect he quit making them. It would be more than most would want to pay, but to be honest it would still be a bargin for the amount of work he probally has to put into them.
