Who here doesn't fish store bought baits
I was just wondering who doesn't fish with ANY store bought/ Commercial lures? It's been 3 years since I bought a lure for crappie. Every crappie I've caught in the last 3 years have been from a custom pour that I, Snakes or my buddy Bob has made. Ok I did get weak and use minners a couple times but that's because they wouldn't touch plastic
I still love to troll the shelfs of bass pro or wal mart but refuse to buy lol great place to look at styles and color combos. I just get more out of using a bait my friends have made.

I enjoy using my own plastic baits and also my hand tied jigs we also enjoyed using plastic baits from my friends there is where the real enjoyment comes from is using somebody else's plastic baits that are custom-made of course I've been fishing with my own stuff ever since I was about 13 now that we will be turning 65 this April so many years of catching fish on my own jigs mo are you back home yet good morning Keith.

I really just got started hardcore fishing for crappie year round. Before I only used minnows. Over this short time I pretty much used Keith's stuff with a little Bobby G thrown in the mix . Since I have found this site I have started making my own jigs and plastics. Not as good as the stuff I purchased but it will do.

I love that answer. That is a great feeling. I raise my own minnows and red wigglers. I tie my own jigs. I solder my own teardrops. And now I inject or pour my own plastics except for those I buy from Snake River. Have not bought a lure off a shelf in 30 years.Originally Posted by baitman

I may be outa line responding sins all i fish with is my hand tied jigs. i love catching fish on stuff i make its a pride thing is best way to describe it. when i tie a new pattern and get that first crappie on it its like wow that worked.
I have bin very luck so far every thing i have tied this year has got fish.
I just started tying jigs last year and i look at them and the ones i tie now and i wonder how those ugly things catch fish lol. Thanks to the good people hear i am no longer embarrass by my jigs.
