Well I have been pouring jigs for about 32 years andplastics for the past year and a half. I always wear my protective equipment. Ihave never had a problem with either until the other night. Stupid me! I had mysleeves rolled up and you know what happen next. Yep the plastic squirted outof the injector and onto my forearm. banghead I was lucky I had a sink close by. I ranmy arm under cold water immediately to put out the fire. I'm posting a pictureas a reminder to be safe. I considermyself lucky this time. On the plus side the lures did well on the yellowperch.

you can never be too careful with plastic you can burn yourself in about 2 seconds the above picture should say to you guys be extra careful I have for myself many times but not that bad I've had the problem of people wanting to watch me shoot plastic I do not want people even in the shop around me when we are working we usually shut the door and if somebody drops by I will stop immediately what I'm doing in this should be a warning sign for every guy that shoots plastic baits please do not let people watch you were stand by you when you are working make sure that you wear plenty of protective clothing gloves are a must and longsleeved shirts and by all means your shoes do not wear tennis shoes try to wear something leather that will cover your feet you should wear some type of eye protection if you wear glasses you should be okay the only problem with this if you get a block to go on your four head to run down it may go into your eyes so I suggest get a pair of good work glasses the type that come up tight against your eyes remember it only takes 2 seconds for something to happen like I mentioned in the above so please do all you can to be protected of yourself and others.

My right hand has some nice scars on it from plastic from about three years ago. Keep that wound clean pal or you'll be in a real pickle. Man that brings back memories.
Man those are deep burns. Good to hear you were close to water.

Man that looks like that hurt like hell. Hope You heal up in quick fashion. I was injecting some plastic about a month ago and had some plastic under pressure shoot straight out the sprue hole as I lifted the injector off. I saw it shoot in different directions. Felt no burning so i went on with my injecting. A couple days later, I was putting My shirt in the closet out of the wash that I was wearing that night i was injecting and noticed a bunch of plastic had sprayed onto the bottom of my sleeve cuff. I had no idea it had got on my shirt. If I had been in a T shirt, My wrist would have gotten a terrible burn. Long sleeves, gloves and at least eye protection at all times. Safety is something in this game that if You slack on, YOU WILL GET BURNT!CF

Thanks, I'm keeping it clean. I just wanted to post a picture as a warning to others. Nasty pictures seem to get more attention. I always wear my gear just one little oversight. First time I had the plastic squirt out like that what are the odds. Please learn for my mistake and feel free to use the picture if it will save someone else from getting burned.

I've been burned a couple times pouring lead over the years, not bad as Mike but enough that at 72 I am not going to try plastic, old man arthritis can sometimes cause my fingers on right hand to just lock up. Hope Mike heals fast & proper.......

You have probably saved someone from a lot of pain by posting this. Personally, I sas a ton of things I was doing wrong AFTER i read the stickie "DO NOT" at the top of this forum 8 months ago. It was only by God's grace and mercy that I did not really mess up myself bad. Since then I wear combat boots, welding gloves, Belechik hoodie and jeans. Safety goggles a full face shield will be on my next shopping list. Thank you again.
