Use microwave because of its quickness and its cheap to get started with an old microwave. Check thrift stores or pawn shops or heck a sale at Walmart for a cheaper one if you have to. 3 or 4 pyrex cups so You don't have to wait for a cup to cool before changing color of plastic you want in pyrex cup.

Does have its drawbacks to though. Will scorch plastic fast if not paying attention and with a plate and pot or presto pot, and with the pot You can hold the heat at temp and work with the liquid plastic much longer. Just takes longer to heat.CF

we do use a pasta pot for big batches only we have two of them with stirring motor on them they are fantastic but I would not get one and less you are going to do a lot of shooting with plastic most the time when I'm even doing 500 to 1000 baits I will use Pyrex because it heats up a lot faster for me and I'm able to do quite a few different things such as making 2 color baits because most of the batches are all different you may shoot 100 of this in 100 of that and that is one reason why use the Pyrex if I'm going to shoot only one color for 500 or thousand I will use the pot I do not like using hot plates and if you do make sure that you have a thermal meter to watch the temperature you can burn your plastic real easy if you do not watch that temperature on a hot plate.

Its a cheap walmart single burner, but does real well.. I get it up to temp in a sauce pot, then pull the pan off the burner when injecting, then heat it up again, and inject some more.
