Just a suggestion: put in the resin in layers, the first just enough to cover the model, to anchor it, and then add more as the first starts to set. Once the base layer has started to kick off, the model should be held in place. The mix has to be in small batches of course. More messing around and time consuming this way, but it should answer your problem. The layers of resin should bond to each without any problem.
