Something I have been lax in doing is replacing my cups every year. Well today I got a REMINDER of why you need to do it. I was reheating a batch. It had only been in for 1 minute, not even starting to gel yet, I took it out set it on my bench (wood and clean and dry ) went to grab my knife to break it up and before I could do anything it exploded on me. Thank god it wasnt hot but little shard of glass went everywhere. I will now replace all my cups just to stay safe and I encourage you all to do the same.

Scarey stuff right there. Hot plastic could cause some serious burns.Doh
wow I need to be mroe careful, I use to use eye protection but have gotten to where I no longer use it. I guess I better get back into the safe mode. Better to be safe than sorry. I burned my hand one time pretty bad from it and I was out of service for a while. It hurt like the dickens for sure. Glad you did not get hurt.
I have had more than my share of burns but Do not want the glass in the eye, I can work with burns but now blind.
thanks for the warning, I guess I need to get me some new cups as well
I remember seeing somewhere that there is something better, I am going to do some looking to see if I can find it and will let you know. Hope its not twice the price
you make such good looking plastics but nothing is worth your eye sight.....
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.....

EWWW! Glad you escaped! I always need a good wake up call to get me back to safety.
yes we all need a wake up call. I wish I had pictures to post of my burns to show. I am just glad they were small, any bigger and I would be an even bigger baby. baitman if you find anything better be sure to let us know.
